Coordinator's Welcome

Hello! My name is Tristan, and I am the Service Manager while Allie is on maternity leave.

I have worked in education and care since 2009. During this time, I have worked in long-day care and outside-school hours care, from an Educator to Director of Operations and Service Managers for not-for-profit and for-profit organisations. I am also quite proud of my volunteer career, including acting as an "Approved Provider" of an OSHC service at my own children's school and working with the "Outsiders" playwork company, facilitating play events for children in the community, and my time on the working group for the Nature Play Queensland relaunch.

I am a father to four children and a husband. We keep busy with various hobbies, family events, and further education.

In the modern day, humans are on the go from the moment we wake to the moment we sleep. Children are also given or have to live up to the lifestyle or expectations of adults by having so many events, activities, and formal education that we believe will help them become productive adults or prepare them for adulthood. OSHC is the perfect "Place" and "Time" to just be. In my professional approach to working with children, I'm a firm believer in the Playwork approach. My role as an adult in the child's space is to be around, support, offer suggestions, and extend play opportunities. By doing these things, I help children become confident in themselves and develop the skills needed to navigate the world.

"Play is a process that is freely chosen, personally directed, and intrinsically motivated. That is, children and young people determine and control the content and intent of their play by following their own instincts, ideas, and interests in their own way for their own reasons." - Playwork Principles (2015)

Hi there, my name is Allie, and I am the Service Manager for Kelvin Grove State College Outside School Hours Care and currently on maternity leave, due back August 2025. I have worked in OSHC for over 7 years and have loved every moment of my career. Starting as a Casual Educator, I quickly discovered working with children was my calling in life and supporting children from the primary years is my passion. Throughout my career I have had the privilege of working in many roles giving me hands on experience which has given me the breadth of knowledge and understanding of all facets of a OSHC service. To me, relationships are so important which is why I pride myself on fostering positive, open relationships with children, families and the wider community. I am proud to lead such an incredible team of educators who I know you will just love.
